Where we are at with our thinking and commitment to going green
This is the latest buzz word and subject for everyone whether you're an
individual or large corporate company. There is a war cry on climate change
sweeping the world, most of it seems to be politically motivated, which leads
you to think its all about money and control for the politically astute.
While we wait and see the results on the science still being debated on climate
change we recognise that we have a part to play in improving our resources and
methods as a New Zealand company.
We are greatly concerned that less than 3% of the world's water is fit for
drinking. We have polluted our water ways, rivers, streams and under ground
aquifers. Only time will truly tell of the damaged ecosystems we are leaving as
a legacy for our grandchildren.
So what are we doing about it?

So what are we doing about it?
Currently we have made several changes to the way we are doing things and
working on projects fore the future. We are linking ourselves with companies
committed to
change with an eye on future products, such as
General Electric.
Our service trucks run on Bio Diesel.

While this is not the final answer this is a form of recycling. Used canola oil
is reprocessed and made into bio fuel. We have been running on Bio fuel since
January 2007 and are very pleased with the results, we even reckon we get
better gas mileage! When a suitable range of new hybrid vans come on the market
we will be having a close look.

Recycling used water filters.
We end up with thousands of used water filters over the year. Currently we are
investigating various methods of recycling these. We will keep you posted on
what solutions we find.
Co-workers based from home.
We are currently running mobile offices. We have deliberately chosen to make
use of new technologies and have all our co-workers working from their home.
This means less impact on roads, wasted time and we are using existing
resources. Our service technicians are sent through job sheets and can work
servicing our clients in the area they live in. Its about working smarter and
finding more efficient, effective ways of doing the same business.

Going Chemical free.
Whether we are sanitising your cooler or sterilising your water tank, we
occasionally have to use chemical based compounds. We have looked at minimising
the use of aggressive chemicals but still get on with the job. Examples of this
include using pure alcohol for sanitising the insides of water coolers and
using a citrus based cleaner on the outside. All our vehicle washing is now
done using Enjo fibre cloths, which means we use no soaps or detergents that
ultimately end up in the ocean. It's the little things that will ultimately
make a difference. |

What can YOU do regarding water to help the environment?
Stop Buying Bottle Water! By choosing a Pure Water Services
water filter over bottled water, you're already reducing your carbon footprint.
The manufacture, distribution, and disposal of bottled water all require much
more energy than the tap water, which flows through pipes. Each year a single
bottled water company uses almost enough energy to power 20,000 households!
Furthermore, plastic bottles take more than 450 years to break down and only
10% are recycled - that's a huge strain on the environment. See about bottled water for more
information. For your own bottled water plant at your home see the bottled
water maker homespring
Buying bottled water for your office water cooler? STOP!
There is an alternative, New Zealand's tap water can easily be purified. Our
plumbed in-line coolers remove the need for any one to ever buy water or even
refill your cooler! Most water delivery companies are only purifying your town
water supply and then selling it to you again! Be proactive sign up for a free
trial and see our In-line coolers. |

Our new range of low carbon footprint water purification products
Homespring, is owned by General
Electric or GE. GE is making big advances in reducing carbon foot prints on all
its product ranges, which is huge. GE have recently finished conducting
scientific research which proves that the homespring central water purifier has
the lowest carbon foot print compared to other comparable technologies.
GE’s (General Electrics) ecomagination commitment is to invest and
develop environmentally advanced, self-sustained products and service to
increase our customers' ability to compete and win; through improved operating
performance and minimal environmental impact.
To ensure that product introduction is met with the highest degree of
integrity, GE employs a rigorous qualification process to effectively certify
new products for ecomagination. The outcome of this process is the
Ecomagination Product Review (EPR) scorecard, which quantifies the product's
environmental impacts and benefits relative to other products. To ensure the
accuracy of the scorecard, GE worked with Green Order (www.greenorder.com) to
provide independent, quantitative environmental analysis and verification of
GE's product claims.
For more info on GE commitment read this article at the release of
ecomagination.
Or see their ecomagination website for more details click here
